Regula Mühlemann replaces Hanna-Elisabeth Müller

Due to a sudden illness, soprano Hanna-Elisabeth Müller will unfortunately be unable to perform on Friday, October 4th, with the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana, conducted by Markus Poschner, in the concert where she was scheduled to be the featured soloist in Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 4. Her place will be taken by a highly acclaimed Swiss artist, soprano Regula Mühlemann.

Big names, top-quality programme

The 79th edition of the Settimane Musicali di Ascona, scheduled from 31 August to 8 October 2024, promises to be of the highest artistic quality, with a programme that brings together prestigious debuts and welcome returns, great symphony orchestras and acclaimed soloists.

Free admission for students and apprentices up to the age of 26

Given the success of last year's edition, free admission for young people to all concerts of the Settimane Musicali is confirmed again this year.  The initiative is aimed at involving young people and promoting a passion for music among the younger generation.  A warm invitation to participate is also extended to schools.

New Artistic Director for the Settimane Musicali Ascona as of 2026

Starting with the 81st edition in 2026, the cultural manager from Basel, Christoph Müller (54), will take over the artistic management of the Settimane Musicali Ascona.

Programme changes

Beethoven, programme change

At the concert on 16 September, the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia conducted by Gianandrea Noseda will perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 and not Symphony No. 7, as previously announced.

We are very sorry to announce that violist Ambra Albek will not be able to take part in the opening event Ticino Terra di musicisti, which will take place on 31 August in the Papio church in Ascona (admission free).

Francesco Piemontesi leaves the artistic direction of the Settimane Musicali

The 2024 edition will be Francesco Piemontesi's penultimate as artistic director. This was announced by the person concerned during the press conference presenting the programme of the 79. Edition.
