Sir András Schiff, unwell: Piemontesi in trio with Kopatchinskaja and Wieder-Atherton

One of the most anticipated events of the 80th Settimane Musicali di Ascona faces a last-minute change.

The four-hand piano recital by Francesco Piemontesi and Sir András Schiff, scheduled for Monday, 29 September at Collegio Papio, will not take place. The renowned Hungarian pianist, obliged to rest for health reasons, has had to withdraw.

But the music goes on: Francesco Piemontesi will be joined by two extraordinary musicians, the acclaimed violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja and the French-American cellist Sonia Wieder-Atherton. The fully revised program features three masterpieces: Debussy’s Cello Sonata, Schumann’s Violin Sonata No. 2, and Shostakovich’s Trio in E minor.

An evening promising intensity, lyricism, and virtuosity, turning an unexpected change into a memorable musical experience. This concert also marks Francesco Piemontesi’s farewell as Artistic Director of the Settimane Musicali.

Tickets: CHF 25 to 85, available at Ascona and Locarno Tourism offices and at the box office. Free admission for students and apprentices up to 26 years, while seats last.
