The new artistic director has already been appointed, he has a highly qualified profile and his name will be announced shortly.
'For many reasons,' explains Francesco Piemontesi, 'the tasks of an Artistic Director have become increasingly demanding. Obtaining the same quality that is on the bill today is only possible with a great deal of personal involvement and persuasion, which must be constant throughout the year. However, my commitments as a musician with the various musical institutions with which I collaborate have increased exponentially. For this reason, I consider it appropriate, and also fair to the festival, to end my term as artistic director at the end of this year. I will still plan the 2025 edition, but then the task will be entrusted to a personality of recognised value who will certainly be able to keep up the prestige of the event, while also bringing new stimuli. However, I will remain linked to the Settimane Musicali as an ambassador with one project per year starting in 2026’.
The President of the Settimane Musicali Foundation, Francesco Ressiga-Vacchini, commented: 'We are very grateful for the excellent work carried out by Francesco Piemontesi over the past 12 years. We are clearly sorry for his departure, but we fully understand the need for such a choice. In any case, we are delighted that he will remain connected to the Settimane Musicali and we are confident for the future. The new artistic director has already been appointed, he has a highly qualified profile and his name will be announced shortly'.
