The first concert of the “Piemontesi & Friends” Series dedicated to chamber music opens in the spirit of Schubert’s romantic lyricism, delighting us with the magnificent Trio no. 2 for Piano, Violin and Cello, one of his most renowned masterpieces, written only a few months before his premature death at age 31. Film aficionados will certainly recognize the main theme of its second movement, which Stanley Kubrick notoriously included in the “Barry Lyndon” soundtrack. Alongside Francesco Piemontesi, at the piano, two extraordinary names of contemporary concert music, at their Ascona debut: the British violinist James Ehnes and the American cellist, Alisa Weilerstein.
