Gianandrea Noseda

Since 2007 he is the Music Director of the Teatro Regio Torino and his initiatives have propelled the Teatro Regio Torino onto the global stage, where it has become one of Italy’s most important cultural ambassadors. Under his leadership the Teatro Regio Torino has recorded with the leading singers of our time and toured in Austria, China, France, Germany, Japan (two residences at the Bunka Kaikan) Russia and United States (including the historical debut at Carnegie Hall, acclaimed as one of the most important events of the season).
Gianandrea Noseda is also Principal Guest Conductor of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Principal Conductor of the Orquestra de Cadaqués and Artistic Director of the Stresa Festival (Italy). He was at the helm of the BBC Philharmonic from 2002 to 2011 and in 1997 he was appointed the first foreign Principal Guest Conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre, a position he held for a decade.
Gianandrea Noseda has developed a close relationship with the London Symphony Orchestra, that he conducts at the Barbican Centre and on tour; in addition he works regularly with the the NHK Symphony in Japan, with the Cleveland, Philadelphia, Washington and Toronto orchestras in North America, with the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre de Paris the Filarmonica della Scala, the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia and the Wiener Symphoniker in Europe. In May 2015 he made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic.
Gianandrea Noseda has a long standing relationship with The Metropolitan Opera dating back to 2002 and has conducted many new productions including a widely praised Prince Igor, now available as a DVD for Deutsche Grammophon. In the summer of 2015 he made his debut at the Salzburg Festival conducting the Wiener Philharmoniker for a production of Il Trovatore.
Highlights of 2015/16 season includes performances with the Cleveland, National Symphony, Philadelphia and Pittsburg Orchestras in the US, with the London Symphony Orchestra, (including a European summer tour), Orchestre de Paris, Israel Philharmonic. He will also make his debuts with the Münchner Philharmoniker and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden conducting a new production of Il Trovatore.
Gianandrea Noseda intense recording activity counts over fifty CD, many of which have been celebrated by critics and received awards. His Musica Italiana project, which he initiated over ten years ago, has chronicled underappreciated Italian repertoire of the 20th Century. Conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra Teatro Regio Torino he has also recorded opera albums with celebrated vocalists such as Ildebrando d’Arcangelo, Rolando Villazon, Anna Netrebko and Diana Damrau.
A native of Milan, Maestro Noseda is Cavaliere Ufficiale al Merito della Repubblica Italiana, marking his contribution to the artistic life of Italy.
